The Zao mountains, stretching into the distance. Settle back and commune with the majestic natural setting here, basking in the tranquil flow of time.
The scale of nature here is immense, with the pleasures and thrills unbroken throughout spring, summer, fall and winter alike. The Echo Line highway originates at the hotel's entrance, making it easy to motor up the mountain past breathtaking Fudo Falls. Closer to the summit lies “Okama,” a crater lake that ranks as a scenic symbol of Zao. Emerging in the winter are the huge frost-covered trees landscapes for which Zao is also renowned, while bird watching, mountain stream fishing and other stimulating activities further add to the enjoyment of nature. Located in nearby Togatta is “Kokeshi-no-sato,” where visitors can try their hand at painting distinctive carved wooden dolls. The Murata area is the home of “Minwa-no-sato,” where folktales are presented in the ancient oral tradition and numerous other attractions wait to be seen. The hotel is also an excellent base camp for taking in the “Sendai Tanabata Festival,” considered one of the Big 3 festivals in Japan, and other sightseeing adventures.
